What once was mere speculation has graduated to full confirmation, as Lionhead Studios has revealed a high-definition remake of its original action RPG, Fable, in the form of Fable Anniversary.
The new animation system in particular will help improve the original cut-scenes of Fable, “so all of the cut-scenes look absolutely incredible now – they’re much more up to what you expect from modern day standards,” lead designer Ted Timmins told Xbox frontman Major Nelson in a recent podcast.
“We’ve been looking at the textures, the models, the meshes, the particle effects… the whole thing has been redone,” Timmins continued.

User interface, load times and the original Fable control scheme have all also been improved for Fable Anniversary, while SmartGlass functionality and features will be included.
Fable Anniversary, says Timmins, could act as a platform for future Fable content in the form of expansions:
“It’s definitely something we want to investigate and I’ve certainly got a whole bunch of ideas that I’d like to realise in the form of additional content,” confirmed Timmins.
