Zumba Fitness: World Party

Written by: / / 2 Comments

It’s time for us to dance our abs off, except this time all around the world!

I have become somewhat of a Zumbanatic, and even though I know that’s not even a real word, I enjoy the Zumba games so much I’ve even made up a word to describe myself. I might not look like someone that you would normally see doing Zumba, but I really enjoy it and have to say, I have got pretty good at it, too.

What You Need to Know

Zumba Fitness: World Party is the fourth addition to the Zumba Fitness range, using certain dance styles to target different muscle groups to help you get into shape – it’s all about having fun and getting fit. This game uses the motion-captured movements of real Zumba instructors to make it as accurate as possible.

What’s New?

World Party introduces a new game mode called ‘World tour.’ In this mode you travel to seven global destinations to learn the local rhythms and the native dance styles. By completing songs, you get souvenirs and postcards. It also gives you access to the all-new streamlined ‘Progress Tracker Plus,’ where it shows all of your statistics, technique scores, calories burned etc., all in one place.

What’s the Same?

The game gives you access to forty different songs ranging from ‘Low’ to ‘High’ intensity routines for all skill levels. The better you do the more stars you earn and the more calories you burn. The game also features forty-five predefined classes to choose from or you can set up a custom class with your favourite songs.

What I Liked

4.) The addition of the new World Tour mode is a big bonus, as it pushes you to perform at your best to get all the rewards.

3.) It features some of the best Zumba originals and licensed tracks in any Zumba game to date.

2.) The improved visual presentation with added effects during your routine.

1.) The accuracy of the motion controller is outstanding. It has really improved, which helps you do the best you can to burn all of those calories needed to get into shape.

Favourite Moment

I was challenged to do a ‘High Intensity’ song that I haven’t done before and I did the routine like a true Zumba pro. Then at the end I saw that all-important five star rating which gives me a huge sense of satisfaction.

What I Didn’t Like

3.) There were some odd moments where I was doing the routine and the Kinect didn’t register the movement, which affected my score and goals.

2.) They have added more licensed music to the game, with artists like Pitbull, Lady Gaga and more, but there is still a lack of known hits. I would have more fun with songs I know.

1.) The goal setting feature is not working as perfectly as it should. The time settings in the game are still twelve hours out from my local time when I was playing, which makes it difficult to achieve certain timed goals.

Least Favourite Moment

I went into the goals menu to set up some personal goals, but was sadly greeted by thousands of ‘Community Goal Completion’ messages that felt like I was stuck in a loop.

What’s Extra?

The added game mode pushing me to perform at my best is really a step forward for the Zumba series. It motivates everyone to get off the couch and have some fun while getting into shape at the same time. It is the perfect combination of gaming and fitness coming together.

The Bottom Line

If you really enjoy working on your fitness and having fun at the same time, then this game is perfect for you. It is truly a party and I almost forgot I was actually doing exercise. This game is really recommended.
