Latest Freedom Wars story trailer celebrates Japanese releaseWritten by: / / 5 Comments
Freedom Wars was released last Thursday in Japan and Sony has now unveiled an updated story trailer for the game to remind those of us in the West that it’s shaping up to be one of the most interesting and best new IPs for the system.
Freedom Wars is a collaboration between SCE Japan Studio and two of Japan’s most respected developers – Shift and Dimps. Shift handled the game design, character design and story elements of Freedom Wars while Dimps oversaw the game’s programming, graphics and direction.
The game supports online co-op for up to eight players and takes place in a dystopian future where humans live in heavily overpopulated cities called Panopticons. To try to curb overpopulation thousands of people (including the game’s hero) are unjustly arrested and forced to battle gargantuan monsters called Abductors as punishment. Defeating these creatures frees the civilians they’ve captured and shortens your million-year prison sentence as a reward.
Here’s the latest story trailer for the game featuring a more comprehensive English translation than the one released in April:
Freedom Wars is out now in Japan and will be released exclusively for PS Vita sometime later this year in North America and Europe. Head over here for El33tonline’s previous coverage of this intriguing multiplayer action RPG from SCE Japan Studio.
