We’re making a list. Checking it twice. Gonna’ find out which games we’ll buy for full price…
Your knee-jerk reaction might be to say that Destiny will be the biggest game of 2014 in terms of sales and hype, and you would have very good reasons to believe that to be true. With a beta test coming in July to fuel hype, a confirmation that Peter Dinklage’s voice performance (“That Wizard came from the Moon,” et al) will be reworked before launch, and industry analysts predicting the game will sell between ten and fifteen million units… the game looks set to be a monster.
Keep in mind, though, that The Sims 4 is out a few days ahead of Destiny, which is a series you should never underestimate, while Super Smash Bros. is out on 3DS and Wii U later in the year.
Other important games, like Alien: Isolation, Dragon Age: Inquisition, DriveClub, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Battlefield: Hardline, The Evil Within, Evolve and Sunset Overdrive are all out in October, but as buzz grows for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Far Cry 4, Activision and Ubisoft may just be able to record the biggest sales numbers in 2014.
Then there’s Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which while limited to Xbox One will do some very good numbers, while Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will earn a pretty penny, too.
What 2014 games do you think will be able to claim the sales crown by the end of the year?
