Is Uncharted 4 the last game in the series? Nolan North thinks soWritten by: / / 7 Comments
The first trailer for what we now know as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has since been confirmed to showcase in-game visuals, and directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann have discussed how their previous work – The Last of Us and Uncharted 2 – has influenced their approach to the development Uncharted 4 in an insightful video interview.
Despite all of the work going into this latest Uncharted game, could this be the last game in the series?
Prolific voice actor Nolan North (who of course provides performance capture for Uncharted hero Nathan Drake) believes that Uncharted 4 could very well be the last game in the series, and while he must be excited to reprise his role as Drake he says he’s a fan of “going out on top.”
Speaking to IGN regarding Uncharted 4 and his role in the game, North said:
“It’s bittersweet but at a certain point you want to go out on top. If this is the last one indeed, and I believe it’s the last one – nothing’s confirmed, but I believe it’s the last one Naughty Dog wants to do, in which case I hope somebody else doesn’t pick up the mantle because they’ve done it so well for so long – but yeah, it’s one of those things where you just have to cross that bridge when you get to it.
“I like the idea of going out on top so we better do a hell of a job with this one… and it’s already looking pretty good.”
If the man behind Nathan Drake feels its time to retire the character – and the franchise – it’s perhaps a good indication of the life he feels is left in the series.
Uncharted 4’s title, ‘A Thief’s End,’ combined with the latest trailer, both point to an ominous story that could see one of the main characters (and even Drake himself) meet his end.
Would you play more Uncharted after the fourth entry in 2015?
