E3 2014: Witness the outrageously delightful Yoshi’s Woolly World in new trailer and screensWritten by: / / No Comments
Do you remember Kirby’s Epic Yarn? Wasn’t that game outrageously delightful? It sure was.
Wouldn’t it be great if Nintendo took that visual style and the gameplay opportunities that arise from creating a world with the properties of everyday wearable material? It sure would be.
Other than a bit of burlap and felt here and there, it looks as though the world of Yoshi’s Woolly World is made entirely from wool… well, simulated wool, at any rate, a conceit that Nintendo and developer Good-Feel seem to be taking full advantage of with the way the environment reacts to your actions, and how you progress.
Press release sentences like “Yoshi has never been more adorable than as a toy knit from yarn” and “[Yoshi] can incapacitate a Piranha Plant by muzzling it with a piece of coloured string” make the game sound even more unbearably cute than the trailer below can muster, but that trailer is still pretty darn amazing:

As seen in the trailer (now above), Yoshi’s Woolly World also includes two-player co-operative play which the developers at Good-Feel promise leads to some great new ways to play through the game.
