E3 2014: Brutal Mortal Kombat X gameplay video reveals new characters and features

You’ve surely heard of klassic Mortal Kombat kharacters Sub-Zero and Scorpion, but have you heard the names Cassie Cage, Ferra and Torr, D’Vorah, and Kotal Kahn?

Unless you’re the hardest of the hardcore Mortal Kombat fans following every scrap of news on Mortal Kombat X, that may have been the first time you’ve read that string of names for four characters new to the franchise, representing only a portion of the full twenty-four character roster line-up.


There’s a good chance, then, that you haven’t yet seen the game’s character variations in action, where each fighter in the game is able to make use of three different versions of themselves, each with special abilities exclusive to that variant, which will definitely make for some interesting mixing and matching to keep the game interesting for a long time to come.

In the video below, creative director Ed Boon is on hand to talk about the game’s story, where it fits into the overall Mortal Kombat mythos, how background interactivity will affect matches and a lot more, all while we get a meaty new look at the brutal, gruesome and wince-worthy action of Mortal Kombat X:
