E3 2014: Create your own 2D Mario courses with Mario Maker on Wii U!Written by: / / No Comments
What was once a doubtful inclusion in Nintendo’s E3 2014 line-up has become one of the more exciting announcements out of the Japanese publisher, because the world building Mario course creator, Mario Maker, has been officially revealed.
After a low quality photo of Nintendo’s E3 booth circulated around The Internet ahead of the show’s commencement today, Mario Maker was but a dream that got many fans frothing over the chance to create and share their very own Mario levels. Thank goodness that it turned out to be real, lest those selfsame fans descended into a destructive rage after finding out their hopes had been dashed.
Due out in the first half of 2015, Mario Maker (a working title, apparently) lets you play and create Mario levels on the Wii U GamePad, and modify these levels in real-time so you can play and adjust the course to your heart’s content. Using the touch-screen, you can easily drag and drop various classic Mario elements like blocks, pipes and enemies to build a level.
That’s not all, either. As seen in the video below, at the press of a button you can change the visual style of your levels from 8-bit Super Mario Bros. to the high definition style of New Super Mario Bros. U:
