EA shuts down Warhammer Online developer Mythic Entertainment

After almost twenty years in business, and following the development and release of massively multiplayer online games like Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, EA has shuttered Virginia-based studio Mythic Entertainment.

In a statement to the press, an EA representative wrote:

“We are closing the EA Mythic location in Fairfax, Virginia, as we concentrate mobile development in our other studio locations. We are working with all impacted employees to provide assistance in finding new opportunities, either within EA or with other companies via an upcoming job fair.”

Mythic Entertainment was founded in 1995 and would most fondly be remembered for the MMORPGs mentioned above, but most recently released the much-vilified Dungeon Keeper mobile game, as well as Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar.

Did you ever play any of Mythic’s more well-known games? Any other favourites from the company’s (very long) list of titles?
