Confirmed: Battlefield Hardline is real, first trailer leaks with official detailsWritten by: / / 4 Comments
After a brief round of rumours (and many more reports surfacing earlier this year), EA and developer Visceral Games has officially announced the existence of Battlefield Hardline, a new police-themed entry to the long-running military shooter franchise.
Writing on the official EA news blog, Visceral Games’ Steve Papoutsis said that he is “fired up to confirm” the team’s next project, Battlefield Hardline, a game he says is out in late 2014 that represents a new series in the Battlefield franchise, this time concerning itself with the battle between “cops and criminals” in the ever going “war on crime.”
We’ll find out a lot more about Battlefield Hardline on June 9th when the game will be formally unveiled to the public, as well as at E3 2014 in the middle of June.
Battlefield Hardline has been a long time in the making, Papoutsis writes, and can be traced back to an internal EA meeting he had with various creative leaders within EA several years ago. Papoutsis wrote:
“It was there I met Karl Magnus Troedsson, the GM of DICE, for the first time, and we immediately began talking about games – I’ve always loved Battlefield and KM was a huge fan of Dead Space, which I was working on at the time.
“We started talking about different ways we could work together, different ways we could take Battlefield and action games in a new direction. It was then that this project that became Battlefield Hardline was born.”
If you would like your first lengthy peek at Battlefield Hardline, then you can watch the recently leaked seven minute internal review video below showcasing the action and features of the game, being discussed under the codename of ‘Omaha’ – fascinating stuff:
Unfortunately the Battlefield Hardline videos have been scrubbed from the face of Mother Internet, but if we find a new source we’ll update again.
