rAge Expo’s dates pushed back by a weekWritten by: / / No Comments
A couple of months ago the organisers of South Africa’s premier gaming expo rAge announced that the event would take place between October 3rd and October 5th this year.
The organising committee has now pushed these dates back by a week in order to ensure that the expo’s opening day falls on a school holiday and to avoid clashing with two other major gaming expos that are scheduled for the weekend of October 4th. Michael James, Senior Project Manager on rAge, explains:
“The first reason for pushing the date out by a week is simple: In the past few years rAge has experienced phenomenal growth which means it gets rather crowded at the venue over the weekend. By moving the date out by a week we ensure that the Friday is during school holidays and that means we can balance the crowd loading more effectively across the weekend. This also means no skipping school for some of those LAN gamers who like living on the edge.
“The second reason (and this is an industry insider reason so don’t tell anyone), is that there were two other big international gaming-related consumer expos taking place during the same weekend that rAge was originally booked on. The biggest of these is in Moscow, Russia, and because these events attract huge crowds, the various international publishers and distributors can’t stretch their available developers and playable preview game code across three different countries, time zones and shows.”
