It may come as a surprise and disappointment to some, but Ubisoft has announced that the publisher’s ambitious shared-world shooter, The Division, won’t be out in 2014 as previously thought.

During Ubisoft’s most recent quarterly financial results report, the publisher revealed its slate of upcoming games for the next financial year and beyond, and unfortunately The Division won’t be out before March 2015.

Posting on the official website, the development team behind The Division confirmed the news, writing:

“Today we announced that Tom Clancy’s The Division will be available in 2015 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

“Working on The Division is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us at Massive, Reflections, and Red Storm Entertainment. We are creating something we are really proud of and we don’t want to compromise on quality. We are going to release the game when it’s ready.”

The team says we’ll find out more about The Division at E3 2014 next month.

Are you surprised by the delay? Disappointed?
