After six years in development, The Crew is going on a world tour (but skips South Africa)Written by: / / 3 Comments
“After 6 years in development, The Crew is more than ever ready to hit the hands of gamers.”
That’s not a statement of intent from Ubisoft that we can take to mean The Crew is due for imminent release. It’s text taken from the website Route909.com, a site that is heralding an upcoming world tour for Ubisoft’s open-world racer where fans in eight locations around the globe will be able to get their hands on the promising game.
Starting tomorrow, May 16th, and all the way through to June 12th, a ‘Work in Progress’ version of The Crew will be making its way to eight selected gaming centres in places like London, Dubai, New York and Paris.
Up to twelve computers will be set up at each location, with contests taking place at each centre. You can see the full list of locations over here, but the map below will give you a good indication of where the game will be popping up:
Interestingly, this ‘Work in Progress’ version of The Crew won’t be making its way to South Africa, or any part of Africa for that matter. The Route909 page says that other locations are yet to be revealed, but with the tour kicking off tomorrow it’s doubtful many more gaming centres will become available.
To be fair, The Crew was playable at rAge 2013 but was probably a much earlier version of the game compared to the version going on tour.
I had a chance to play The Crew at gamescom 2013 but came away a little unimpressed and with many more questions than the developers were able to answer on the spot.
Have you played The Crew at any of its public or private appearances, and what did you think of it?
