Official: Xbox One announced for China with full support from MicrosoftWritten by: / / No Comments
With the lifting of a ban on the sale of consoles and console games in China earlier this year, and the provision of strict guidelines to govern this new avenue, Microsoft has formally announced that the Xbox One will enter the Chinese market in September.
In collaboration with the Shanghai-based BesTV, Microsoft will bring Xbox One to an estimated 500 million gamers in the region with full support from the company. Xbox chief marketing and strategy officer Yusuf Medhi said:
“For the first time ever, Xbox One is coming to China with a full games and entertainment system.”
“Here at Microsoft we have been on a mission to build the very best gaming and entertainment experiences for gamers everywhere, and in China there are over half a billion gamers, so the opportunity to create global and locally created content to delight millions and millions of gaming families everywhere is something that we’re really passionate about.”
Senior VP of BesTV parent company Shanghai Media Group, Zhang Dazhong, remarked that the company believes that Xbox One will achieve “great success in China,” and looks forward to bringing the console to half a billion gamers.
