Report: Kadokawa buys Dark Souls developer From SoftwareWritten by: / / 3 Comments
Kadokawa is a major Japanese media conglomerate, comprising a range of film, news and manga publication businesses including Enterbrain, as well as Kadokawa Games (publisher of Killer is Dead, Lollipop Chainsaw).
From Software, on the other hand, will be known for games including Amored Core, Ninja Blade and Chromehounds. The studio also happened to have created the Demon’s Souls / Dark Souls series.
From the GameBiz report, we can roughly suss out that the Kadokawa group has successfully purchased an 80 percent stake in From Software, which will help Kadokawa expand its game business with the aim of sharing resources and enhancing From Software’s game development capacity.
We’ll update soon when we get an official confirmation of the deal.
In a separate translated report on DualShockers, it’s been revealed that a new intellectual property will result from the deal between Kadokawa and From Software, with growth in the overseas market (relative to Japan) also planned.
