After a week of reports and retracted official comments, a PS4 firmware 1.70 release date has been announced and confirmed both by the European and Japanese arms of Sony Computer Entertainment.
SCE Japan was the first to reveal a release date of April 30th for PS4 firmware 1.70 with a feature video, which you can find in full below:

Just in case you thought that the Japanese PS4 firmware 1.70 release date would be different to other regions, the official European PlayStation Twitter account confirmed the date, writing:
Heads-up: PS4 firmware update 1.70, inc. SHAREfactory and HDCP Off, goes live on 30th April. More soon!

What’s included in PS4 firmware 1.70? Not only can you expect restrictions on how and where you share videos to be removed, but Sony will also be releasing the ShareFactory video editor and the ability to pre-order and pre-load upcoming games to play them the second they’re released.
