After a week of reports and retracted official comments, a PS4 firmware 1.70 release date has been announced and confirmed both by the European and Japanese arms of Sony Computer Entertainment.

SCE Japan was the first to reveal a release date of April 30th for PS4 firmware 1.70 with a feature video, which you can find in full below:

Just in case you thought that the Japanese PS4 firmware 1.70 release date would be different to other regions, the official European PlayStation Twitter account confirmed the date, writing:

What’s included in PS4 firmware 1.70? Not only can you expect restrictions on how and where you share videos to be removed, but Sony will also be releasing the ShareFactory video editor and the ability to pre-order and pre-load upcoming games to play them the second they’re released.

More features are rumoured to be included with this latest PS4 firmware update, but you can see more details on what we already know about (and how ShareFactory works) over here.

Will you be using ShareFactory and the removal of video sharing restrictions?
