Square Enix has announced that a sequel to its 3DS-exclusive rhythm game Theatrhythm Final Fantasy will be released in North America and European territories sometime later this year. ‘Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call’ will once again launch exclusively on the 3DS and features three times as many songs as the original game as well as twice as many playable characters.
The sequel also features two new modes including Quest Medley which allows you to create and share a medley of FMS (Field Music Sequence) and BMS (Battle Music Sequence) mini-games, and Versus BMS where you can challenge a friend to a head-to-head rhythm duel.
Some of the Final Fantasy games and films to lend music, characters, backgrounds and CGI sequences to Curtain Call include Final Fantasy Type-0, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
Producer Ichiro Hazama had this to say about Theatrhythm Final Fantasy’s sequel:
“Music is an integral part of the Final Fantasy experience that serves as a complement to the gameplay. As with the previous title, we envisioned a game where the music takes centre stage and the RPG gameplay enhances that experience. Our fans are definitely in for a treat as they’ll be able to re-experience their favourite songs across the entire Final Fantasy catalogue.”
