Latest inFamous Second Son patch arrives today with awesome Photo Mode featureWritten by: / / 1 Comment
A couple weeks ago, developer Sucker Punch assured fans that a host of requested features would be making their way into inFamous: Second Son in April, not least of which would be the chance to lock the game at 30 frames per second and even change the in-game time of day whenever you wish.
According to Sucker Punch, this latest inFamous Second Son patch is rolling out today, April 17th, and not only includes previously promised features but a bunch of extra niceties to play with.
So we’ve more or less covered what Sucker Punch committed to squeezing into Second Son with the upcoming patch – locking the game to 30fps, changing the time of day, as well as the option to turn the heads-up display on an off for screenshots. Writing on the PlayStation Blog recently, however, Sucker Punch co-founder Brian Fleming wrote about some new recently revealed features that will become available with the new title update, namely:
– “A handful of localisation text changes, and a couple of fixes for rare crashes in the game (thanks to all of you who uploaded reports on those, they were extremely helpful!)”
– “If your controller runs out of batteries in the middle of gameplay, your game will pause. Our art director pulled a hamstring scrambling to get his second controller mid-boss-battle, so we needed to fix this.”
– “If you are choosing expert difficulty, we let you know within the options dialogue if you’re qualified for the “Unstoppable” trophy the moment you opt in.”
– Photo Mode
What’s Photo Mode? Heartened by the community’s commitment to taking great screengrabs of their adventures in inFamous: Second Son, Sucker Punch has built a special suite of tools that you can bring up while playing to take “even more amazing shots,” says Fleming.
Depth of field, camera position and zoom and even colour gradients are yours to change – watch the quick tutorial video below to see how easy it is to use:

“Final full disclosures and fine print,” writes Fleming. “[T]hese options and settings, including frame rate, will reset to defaults each time you restart the game. We chose to not disturb our game save file format with this patch in order get these features to you as quickly as we could.
“Additionally Photo Mode will only work in situations where the camera is freely movable by players. In scripted sequences/cutscenes you can still take screenshots of course, just not with the Photo Mode tools.”
Still, pretty awesome.
