Outcast Reboot HD gets Kickstarter campaign, prototype images and footage insideWritten by: / / No Comments
Belgian developer Fresh3D is hoping to give fan favourite PC title Outcast a new coat of paint after launching a Kickstarter campaign for Outcast Reboot HD. The new project is being handled by members of the original development team who are aiming to make several gameplay improvements to the original version as well as remake all objects, textures, environments and characters from scratch in high definition.
The Kickstarter project’s initial goal is $600 000 and it has already raised almost $150 000 with just four out of thirty days gone. If this target is met a PC version of Outcast Reboot HD will be produced with an expected release time frame of late 2015, with a PS4 and Xbox One version on the cards only if $1.35 million is raised during the campaign period.
Here are a trio of prototype images for Outcast Reboot HD along with the game’s Kickstarter pitch video and some early footage of the remade Shamazaar environment:
The original Outcast was released in 1999 and included many notable features such as non-linear gameplay and free-roaming environments. A sequel was in development for the PlayStation 2 before the project was abandoned after Outcast’s developer Appeal went bankrupt.
