New Mario game in the works at Nintendo Tokyo, may make greater use of GamePad if Wii U titleWritten by: / / No Comments
Nintendo Tokyo is one of the most respected developers in the world following a critically acclaimed trio of releases that include the two Super Mario Galaxy games and last year’s excellent Wii U exclusive Super Mario 3D World. Studio producer Yoshiaki Koizumi recently told Edge that the team has started work on a new Mario game although the question of whether it’s being developed for Wii U or 3DS is “still a secret”.
Koizumi continued: “There’s still a lot more room for discovery and invention, and we’ll continue to propose new and exciting game mechanics going into the future.”
Meanwhile, Nintendo Tokyo team leader Kenta Motokura hinted that the next Mario game from the studio will appear on the Wii U, saying that his team “might need to make even more use of the GamePad” if the follow-up to Super Mario 3D World is indeed developed from Nintendo’s home console. Last year’s platformer utilised the GamePad’s touchscreen and microphone sparingly in stark contrast to how the various features of the Wii Remote were central to Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel’s gameplay.
