Facebook has sunk $2 billion into the tech. Sony is chasing the dream with Project Morpheus. Microsoft is rumoured to be working on its own implementation. And Oculus VR continues to attract rockstar engineering talent with game industry veterans like John Carmack, and more recently Michael Abrash (he of Microsoft, id Software and Valve).
There’s a lot of energy, excitement and money going into virtual reality for games and more wide-ranging applications like entertainment and communication, but is VR the future of gaming?
Will you be able to get over the initial hurdles of wearing a device and suiting up to play games and watch movies (not to mention the current cost of potential headsets), or will VR once again be relegated to a footnote in history?
