H33rsay is El33tonline’s round-up of game industry rumours and speculation where we have looks at unconfirmed and unannounced pieces of news emerging from anonymous tipsters, information leaks and generally dubious sources. It may not all be true, but it’s still fun to talk about!

AssassinsCreedIII

We’re going to mark this one an ‘Extreme H33rsay’ because it doesn’t seem very legitimate, but given the recent leak and confirmation of Assassin’s Creed: Unity with an official trailer, it may be worth keeping an eye on what could become the 2014 Assassin’s Creed game for older generation consoles. Let’s begin…

An image of a supposed Ubisoft press release has appeared online, revealing the existence of something called ‘Assassin’s Creed Comet,’ the codename for the Assassin’s Creed game currently in development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to appear alongside Assassin’s Creed: Unity on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC later this year.

The text makes mention of the Assassin’s Creed III timeline, as well as a character called ‘Eseosa,’ the grandson of Adelwale from Assassin’s Creed IV (and the game’s follow up, Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry), who will seek the guidance of Connor from 2012′s game. Assassin’s Creed Comet is said to wrap up the Kenway portion of the Assassin’s Creed saga, which spans both Assassin’s Creed IV and Assassin’s Creed III. Assassin’s Creed Comet is also supposedly being created under the direction of Ubisoft veteran and original Assassin’s Creed producer, Jade Raymond.

What do you think of this rumour?

It’s very easy to fake these kinds of images, and looking at some of the grammar and the inclusion of staple Ubisoft offers (like the exclusive 60 minutes of content for PlayStation platforms), it may be an amateur attempt at passing off this information as real. The fact that the November 1st date is a Saturday is also a giveaway, but could be placeholder for an in-progress press release. What do you think?
