[Update No. 1]
Following the delay of the PC version of Naval Strike for Battlefield 4 Premium members, DICE has announced that the Xbox One version of the add-on has also been delayed and will be available in “early April,” past its original release date of March 25th. DICE wrote:
“Additionally, we have decided to delay the Xbox One version of Naval Strike because we want to address issues in the animation system that hinder players from engaging targets in set circumstances using popular weapon configurations. We know that many Battlefield 4 Premium owners wanted to play Naval Strike today. However, we didn’t want to release the new content until we believed it was quality content.”
This is a vast change in approach and it seems as though DICE really wants to turn the general perception around regarding Battlefield 4’s relative quality on launch.
[End of Update No. 1]
As promised, the third massive addition to Battlefield 4 arrives for the game’s Premium members starting today on across Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
Developer DICE has announced a quality related delay for the PC version of Naval Strike, however, writing on the official Battlefield blog:
“Quality is our number one priority and we will not release Battlefield 4 Naval Strike on PC until we feel it meets the highest quality level possible. We are also working on a larger update to release alongside Battlefield 4 Naval Strike on PC that will address the issue of Tablet Commander not working correctly.”
If you’re a Battlefield 4 Premium member on console, though, you can look forward to water-based action on four all-new maps set in the South China Sea – here’s a quick overview of the maps:
– Lost Islands: Blow open a crashed passenger plane and capture fishing villages across these tropical islands.
– Wave Breaker: Drop a submarine on your foes as you infiltrate a naval base or rush between shipping docks and rocky islands on this massive map.
– Nansha Strike: Wage war across stormy seas in the largest ocean stretch in a Battlefield map yet.
– Operation Mortar: Storm an abandoned cliff-side resort, or get lost in the breathtaking vistas in this map.
Battlefield 4 Naval Strike also includes the new ‘Carrier Assault’ game mode, which will be familiar to anyone who played the classic ‘Titan Mode’ in Battlefield 2142. The objective in this mode is to destroy the enemy team’s carrier before they can do the same to yours, with all-out warfare exploding on land as well as over the sea and in the air before the game funnels into a much more close-quarters combat affair as you attempt to take out the carrier from the inside.
The amphibious hovercraft vehicle will also be introduced with Battlefield 4 Naval Strike, with five new weapons, two new gadgets and an additional ten assignments to complete, too.
Battlefield 4 Naval Strike Is Out in April, Too?
If you’re a non-Premium member, you’ll be able to purchase and download Battlefield 4 Naval Strike on your platform of choice starting April 8th, so don’t fret if you feel you’re missing out too much – your time will come, soon.
