If you’ve grown to enjoy the enhanced connectivity that companion apps have brought about in recent years then be sure to check out the one that was recently released for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes on the iOS App Store and Google Play.

The game’s free companion app can be used to display a map of your surroundings, mark enemy positions and set landing zones for support helicopters when the going gets tough. You can also listen to cassette tapes and music tracks from the main game using the app, and even play a ‘military base building simulation’ mini-game when you’re away from your console.

Two other useful features of the companion app include a heat map mode that uses data from other users worldwide to mark areas where players are most often spotted, as well as a play records section where you can compare your stats to worldwide averages and view other data related to your progress and achievements in the main game.
