Kojima explains why Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes doesn’t have a platinum trophyWritten by: / / 2 Comments
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is out this week and many fans of the series will undoubtedly be looking forward to tackling every optional challenge in the game in order to get their money’s worth. Players who already own a copy of Ground Zeroes have reported that the game lacks a platinum trophy on PS4 (and therefore PS3), instead featuring 13 bronze trophies, one silver trophy and one gold.
Now Metal Gear creator and series director Hideo Kojima has explained why Ground Zeroes is missing a platinum trophy, posting via Twitter:
The reason GZ doesn't have Platinum Trophy in PS4 is due to SONY's regulation. They won't allow us to have them for non-full price game.

It seems strange that PlayStation players can obtain a platinum trophy for Wonderbook: Book of Spells simply by completing the game yet a challenge-filled title such as Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes doesn’t feature one because its launch price happens to be around R200 less than the former game. Be sure to let us know your thoughts on Sony’s current trophy restrictions for retail titles in the comments below.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be released for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on March 18th in North America and March 20th in European territories. Head over here for El33tonline’s previous coverage of this prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
