Anyone looking forward to the further amazing adventures of Spider-Man in both videogame and feature film form later this year will be keen to know that developer Beenox has announced a release date for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
With the movie of the same name due out on May 2nd, 2014, European fans of the friendly neighbourhood webslinger will be able to watch the film and then pick up the game because The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be out on the same day in the region, while North American players can get a head start on their counterparts on April 29th.
The game is due out across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS and PC, and will feature Beenox’s new ‘Hero or Menace’ system, which the team says will encourage gamers to be a better superhero by rewarding your crime-fighting exploits, while adding consequences for allow crime to run wild.
In terms of the game’s events, it’s promised to build on the story of the previous Amazing Spider-Man game while providing an “alternative take on the events of the upcoming movie,” with new opportunities to take your third-person web-slinging antics to new and enhanced levels while roaming through “a greatly expanded” New York City, while placing a greater focus on Peter Parker.
