Batman: Arkham Knight officially announced, will be Rocksteady’s final Arkham gameWritten by: / / 20 Comments
Following a quick-fire retail leak, the existence of Batman: Arkham Knight has just been confirmed as per the reveal of the latest cover of next month’s Game Informer magazine, with fresh details on 2014’s Rocksteady action adventure game.
Game Informer writes that Arkham Knight will “raise the bar even higher” after Rocksteady innovated on the action genre with its excellent freeflow combat system and open-world exploration games, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City in 2009 and 2011 respectively, and may just bring to a close the Dark Knight’s journey in the Arkhamverse series.
Set after the events of Arkham City, Arkham Knight will feature a fully driveable Batmobile which Game Informer says is “a core element of the gameplay.” A new area of Gotham City will also feature in Arkham Knight which is apparently “far larger than Arkham City,” with wider streets for driving in, all designed to make use of Batman’s traversal options like gliding and grappling.
Villains including Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Scarecrow and Penguin are also confirmed for the game, due out in 2014 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. According to today’s retail listing leak, the Batmobile has been uniquely designed for Arkham Knight, while an additional set of Harley Quinn challenge maps will be on offer for those who pre-order the game.
Game Director at Rocksteady Studios, Sefton Hill said of the game:
“The team at Rocksteady Studios is putting a tremendous amount of work into delivering the final chapter of our Batman: Arkham trilogy so that fans can feel what it’s like to be the Batman.
“We’re excited to be developing the game for next-gen platforms, which has allowed us to bring to life the design elements that we envisioned from the beginning such as the Batmobile and how it augments Batman’s abilities, to the fully detailed and realized Gotham City.”
