El33tonline Question of the Day

So… review scores for Thief and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 have appeared, and they’re not stellar. As always, though, there are a few outliers on either end of the spectrum and opinions seem to be mixed over which parts of each game are the good ones.

I was never too hot on Thief (I got my fill of first-person sneaking in Dishonored to last a while), but ever since playing the first Castlevania: Lords of Shadow in 2010, I’ve been looking forward to the sequel. In the face of the scores, I’m still looking forward to the sequel.

Am I alone in my optimism for games that score ‘low’ and are, in the opinion of others, not a stellar game?

(PS. Let’s be clear: A game scoring between 60 and 80 percent is still a good game, but with a few problems. It’s not a stinker, but buyers should still be wary of the experience.)
