The news might have initially leaked out late last week, but Activision and Hasbro Gaming have officially announced a new Transformers videogame coming to consoles this year to coincide with the release of 2014’s Transformers movie.
Titled Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, the game is due out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, 3DS and PC, and is reportedly in development at Edge of Reality (Loadout), as opposed to previous series steward High Moon Studios.
The game will include a co-operative story campaign for up to four players, along with a four-player co-op survival mode called ‘Escalation,’ with experience points earned in either mode able to be carried over to the other. The 3DS version of Rise of the Dark Spark, on the other hand, is said to be in development at Wayforward technologies and will be a strategy RPG.
The debut trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark speaks of a balance between good and evil, which is surfaced in the game with the ability to play as either the Autobots or Decepticons this time around – watch below:
