New Strider trailer explores series origins and evolutionWritten by: / / No Comments
Capcom’s Strider series has been around for a quarter of a century and its star Hiryu has also made a guest appearance in multiple fighting games developed by the company. With the series reboot out next week, Capcom Unity has released a fascinating retrospective trailer detailing Strider’s origins and evolution over the years.
Strider began life as an arcade game released in 1989 and was one of Capcom’s early hits prior to the release of Street Fighter II in 1991. The game was soon ported to multiple systems (often with missing or rearranged elements) and spawned one official sequel and another earlier one developed by Tiertex which is considered non-canon by Strider fans.
Here’s the retrospective:
Strider will launch for PS3 and PS4 on February 18th, and for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC the following day. Head over here for El33tonline’s previous coverage of this series reboot developed by Double Helix Games and Capcom’s Osaka studio.
