There’s been a lot of talk recently about the good and ill of free-to-play games, from the poorly handled payment mechanics of Dungeon Keeper and Plants VS Zombies 2 on iOS, to the more subtle (and completely optional) monetisation strategy of Dota 2, with massively multiplayer online games like DC Universe Online and online titles like Warface and World of Tanks, sitting somewhere in-between.
What is the last free-to-play game that you tried out, and did you enjoy it? Did you put any money into it or were you happy to play it for a few hours without paying a cent?
Would you prefer to simply buy a free-to-play game and play to the end without microstransactions, or are these kinds of games of value to you when they’re free?
