Ubisoft confirms Watch Dogs will launch between April and June 2014Written by: / / 4 Comments
The delay of Watch Dogs into 2014 was one of the most difficult release date slips to swallow in 2013, but as one of the most highly anticipated games of the year the general consensus was that if Ubisoft’s teams needed more time to work on the game, then they should take it.
A report did the rounds earlier the year regarding the possibility of Watch Dogs releasing in March 2014, following an appearance of the date in the Official Xbox Magazine, but Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed in an earnings announcement that the game will see the light of day in the first quarter of Ubisoft’s fiscal year of 2014 to 2015, or any time from April 1st until June 30th.
According to the report, sell-in for Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance (sold to retailers, not to customers) stands at ten million units and six million units respectively, meaning that there is no need to rush Watch Dogs into the last month of the current fiscal year in the hopes of boosting earnings.
The Wii U version of the open-world action game, however, will be released following the launch of the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions.
