Microsoft’s new CEO is a “good supporter” of Xbox, consumer brand “very important”

If you were wondering what impact the appointment of a new Microsoft CEO would have on the company’s Xbox business, Phil Spencer has gone a long way to assuage concerns over whether there will be any big changes to the software giant’s gaming arm.

After congratulating Satya Nadella on his new role at Microsoft, the Xbox boss wrote on Twitter in response to a question:

To further hammer home the point that Microsoft will continue to support the Xbox business, Spencer wrote:

It was announced yesterday that long-time Microsoft employee, engineer and researcher Satya Nadella had been appointed as the company’s new CEO, which was met with excitement from industry watchers as well as muted concern over where his focus lies with regards to Xbox and other of the company’s businesses. According to Spencer at least, Nadella won’t be making any major sweeping changes any time soon.
