Santa Monica Studio expanding to new premises this summerWritten by: / / 3 Comments
Santa Monica Studio has been one of Sony’s most productive and successful first-party developers over the past decade, producing hits such as the God of War series and providing support on PSN classics such as Journey and The Unfinished Swan.
The studio recently announced that this summer it will be moving out of its current premises in Santa Monica to a much larger space in the southwest corner of the Reserve – a 20-acre facility on Jefferson Boulevard in Playa Vista. The new studio provides 85 000 square feet of space which is four to five times larger than the developer’s current home.
“We took some time to hone in on location,” said Shannon Studstill, founder and head of Santa Monica Studio. “We love Santa Monica. It’s been our home for over a decade.”
The new facility will house a state-of-the-art recording studio and is “just steps away” from a new motion capture studio which will be used by multiple first-party developers including Naughty Dog.
Interestingly, despite moving away from Santa Monica the developer’s name will remain unchanged.
