Upcoming Battlefield 4 stability update coming soon, future fixes and focus revealed

For reasons beyond the team’s control (and in EA’s hands), DICE released Battlefield 4 in a broken, incomplete state. Judging by the waves of negative feedback online and outright vitriol directed at the studio following the game’s launch across all platforms last year, it would be difficult to argue against it.

Like the true triple-A developers they are, however, the team rallied together and committed itself to continuing to release numerous patches to right the game’s wrongs and as of January 2014, Battlefield 4 has been improved ten times over – in El33tonline’ review of the PlayStation 4 version of the game, we found it to be smooth sailing.

There’s still more work to be done, though, and DICE is very much aware that its fans and supporters deserve a game that not only matches their expectations, but exceeds them, too. To this end, DICE has outlined the near future for fixes to Battlefield 4 and where the team’s focus lies in the coming weeks – from the update:

Upcoming Game Update

“We are aiming to get a new update live for all platforms at the end of January/beginning of February (timing might change.) This update will include a number of stability improvements, tweaks, and fixes. We will get back to you with the change notes as the update goes live.”

Upcoming Gameplay Balancing

“We are actively looking for your feedback on a couple of core gameplay balancing items. Head to this Battlefield Blog post [] to make your voice heard. In the upcoming weeks, we will also share a large number of balancing tweaks that we are making to Battlefield 4 in future updates, including changes to DMR performance, anti-air, and more.”

BF4 Multiplayer Experience

“We are looking to improve a number of items to further enhance the overall multiplayer experience. We will share more details on this in February. In the meantime, thanks for your feedback on items that you have helped us identify.”

What do you think DICE still has to do in order to fix Battlefield 4 for you?
