Nintendo of America and Europe have commented on the availability of the Pokemon Bank in the West, while offering apologies for the delay – read their comments over here.

[End of Update]

After nearly a month since the application was originally due for release on December 27th and an extended delay, the long awaited Pokemon Bank is now available to download on the Japanese eShop.

eShop browser Daan Koopman (NintenDaan on Twitter) revealed the good news, posting screenshots of the application’s availability:

Koopman then posted another screenshot of Pokemon Bank in operation:

There’s no word yet on whether or not the other promised application, Poke Transporter, is also available but we’ll let you know when we find out.

Pokemon Bank was originally due for release at the end of 2013 on the eShop, but was pulled down from the store after the Nintendo Network experienced a spike in traffic, making the service unstable.

Nintendo asked for the patience of Pokemon fans early in January as the team continued to test the potential network load that the Pokemon Bank would might cause, while Nintendo America promised that a release date would be announced “in the future.”

We’ll update when Pokemon Bank becomes available in regions outside of Japan, hopefully soon.
