El33tonline Question of the Day

In the last year alone, we’ve seen major publishers and console manufacturers reverse important decisions, make very public apologies, and release free content and upgrades to make up for mistakes.

The latest of these reverses came from Maxis yesterday with the announcement of SimCity Offline, a singleplayer mode that a year ago the team said wasn’t possible. Were these companies scrambling to appease their fanbase and potential customers in the future?

How much power and influence do we as the fans and customers of publishers, product manufactures and developers really have over their many and varied decisions? And has the rise of social media interaction (and most notably, Twitter) in recent years ensured that companies pay very close attention to what we have to say about their products?
