H33rsay: The Division has been delayed into 2015Written by: / / 4 Comments
There can be no doubt that Ubisoft’s upcoming shared world third-person shooter, The Division, is shaping up to be one of the most exciting games due out in 2014 not only with an intriguing tale to tell, but incredible technology to back it all up – watch a trailer demonstrating the amazing tech over here.
Rumours are doing the rounds today, however, pointing to a possible delay for the game, pushing its release back into 2015 as opposed to late 2014.
The news was sent out by an anonymous source from development team Ubisoft Massive, and while no official confirmation or denial has arrived from Ubisoft just yet, German site GameReactor got the quote from the source, which read:
“The game engine works well, it is not clear but works well. Actual game development has barely begun, however. The fact that Ubisoft issued a 2014 release date seems laughable if I’ll be completely honest, we will never have time to release The Division this year. This is a big project, we have very far to go.”
For what it’s worth, I’m pretty much convinced that The Division will definitely slip into 2015, what with Ubisoft’s already heavy action game released schedule for 2014.
This, combined with the publisher’s approach to game development very often delaying games (like Watch Dogs, South Park: The Stick of Truth and The Crew), I would say Ubisoft will choose to put The Division out in the first quarter of 2015 (or beyond) to get it done right, and keep the focus on its confirmed 2014 release slate.
What do you think? Hopefully we’ll find out soon.
