Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki promises Devil’s Third for 2014Written by: / / No Comments
We first clapped eyes on a promising third-person action game by the name of Devil’s Third back in 2010, a new title that was announced after outspoken creative director Tomonobu Itagaki (Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive) departed Team Ninja in 2008 and went on to form Valhalla Game Studios.
Since then, it’s been pretty quiet on the Devil’s Third front as THQ wiggled out of publishing duties and then went on to implode, but that hasn’t stopped the team at Valhalla from continuing to develop the game. In a new interview with 4Gamers, Itagaki himself assured his fans that Devil’s Third will be out in 2014 as work continues apace – from the 2013 interview:
“Next year will be the year we’ll be releasing the console game, Devil’s Third,” Itagaki confirmed. “At the moment, it is about 80% complete, and we can about see the end of it. However, there’s still a little more polishing that needs to be done. That’s also one of the reasons I’ve decided to work independently.”
“For you fans out there,” Itagaki continued, “I’d like to apologize for making you worry. We’ll be going all out next year, so please look forward to it.”
Had you all but forgotten about Devil’s Third, or have you continued to look forward to the next big game from Itagaki and his former Team Ninja team-mates?
