2013 treated El33tonline very well indeed.
We were able attend rAge 2013 again in full capacity while meeting new members of the community and greeting old friends, too, while giving our p33ps dozens upon dozens of chances to win games and goodies with our regular competitions throughout the year.
To top it all off, in November we were lucky enough to welcome into the world the daughter of Editor-in-Chief Lisa, little Amy Hannah – a wonderful gift to end 2013 on a high note.
So as we say goodbye to the year in this final Pre-W33kend Post of 2013, we would like to thank each and every one of you for your incredible support – we greatly appreciate every split-second you used up to chat with us online, and every moment you chose to spend with us. Thanks everybody – you’re the reason we do what we do.
For the last time this year, find out what members of El33tonline will be busy with this weekend and over the holidays below, and be sure to tell us about the games and adventures you’ll be embarking upon, too:
“This weekend is going to be awesome. First of all it is a long weekend so that means I get to cram three days of fun, gaming, personal time, sleep, rest and relaxation into my busy schedule.
Saturday is going to be fun and games with the future super heroes and I think we’ll be playing quite a bit of Swap Force. In fact, I might have to go and buy some more of the characters – just to keep the collection going, you know.
Settlers Sunday seems to have morphed into a much large event which I am now calling Board Game Sunday (‘cos we’re not just playing Settlers) and I am looking forward to catching up to a whole bunch of friends at the Piggly Wiggly and have some good times.
Monday is… still to be decided. But it will be good, oh yes, it will be. Games that will be played include Skylanders Swap Force, Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Bioshock Infinite.
Be safe out there.”
“Time has come for us to play games and have fun… oh wait, that’s every day. This nice long w33kend I will be away to spend some time with my family and have an early Christmas.
I will be without my consoles and my PC, so will be playing some AC Pirates, Rayman and others on my tablet when I get a moment. Then there is the issue of trying not to eat too much this weekend, but I will be baking lots of holiday stuff, so I can’t promise anything.
I just want to say thanks to everyone for being part of this great community – it’s a great feeling knowing that we are all part of a big gaming family. So let’s have fun, enjoy our games and be nice to each other… unless you take someone’s tags in Battlefield, then there will be all out war, but it will still be all about the fun.
See you all online and stay safe this holiday. This is POItjie saying: Happy Holidays.”
“Fewer than two weeks until Christmas! Panic stations? Excitement stations? Depends how organised you are!
I’m a bit of both but I am really looking forward to it. This long weekend is my only break because I am working through until I am told not to come in to work (which hopefully is just for the Christmas shut down and not one of those ominous hand-delivered letters from security).
Gaming-wise, I am really looking forward to some backlog reduction and my brother makes a visit from the UK soon so once my daughter’s third birthday party is out of the way, I think it will be time to settle some co-op time in The Cave (bought especially so my wife, my brother and I can play co-op together).
We will also wind down our final preparations for Christmas – in the true spirit of this time of year, we are hosting some foreigners with nowhere else to go; hopefully it will be a special day for them!
I also really hope and pray that your Christmas time is a fantastic time spent with family and friends alike. As a dear friend of mine always says, remember the reason for the season, and be thankful for all the blessings and joys in our lives (I know we are blessed because unlike the majority of our country and continent, we all have enough spare cash to spend on gadgetry and consoles and games).
And on that somber note, don’t forget to drop a final vote in the 2013 SA Blog Awards to wind up a good year!”
“It looks like summer has finally arrived in Durbs so I’ll be soaking up some Vitamin D at Botanical Gardens for tomorrow’s Durban Cosplayers event as well as during a bicycle ride at the beachfront scheduled for Sunday.
I’m not quite sure what I’ll be playing this weekend but yesterday I discovered that the South African iOS App Store is surprisingly well stocked and bought Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as a result. I can’t wait to bust out my first parachute in-game!
I hope each and every one of you has a fantastic holiday break and I’ll see you all again on the other side of New Year’s!”
“Hmm? What am I doing this weekend? Well it just so happens that I was able to secure my very own shiny and dandy PlayStation 4, so as you’re reading this (unless you’re reading it after uncovering a time capsule labelled ‘The Internet’) I’m downloading a bunch of things to test out before I get to grips with some of those blockbuster games I’ve been hearing about.
It’s looking to be a great weekend in Durban so I might also spend some time in the ‘out of doors’ – it’s been a while.
I hope you all have a terrific weekend and an even better break over the holidays – see you ’round!”
What games and mischief will you be getting into this weekend and for the rest of 2013? Any ambitions to pick up a PlayStation 4, or simply hack away at your back catalogue?
Note: We’ll still be hanging around online next week so we hope you’ll look forward to a few extra features going live soon.
