Xbox One sells 2 million units in 18 days, comparable to PS4 sales in the same timeframeWritten by: / / 4 Comments
Xbox frontman Major Nelson has today announced that Xbox One has managed to sell through two million units in thirteen markets around the world, while releasing a few additional tasty statistics morsels for fans to chew on.
Interestingly, Nelson points out that the two million unit sales mark was reached in the first eighteen days of the system being on sale. You’ll remember that Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 had sold 2.1 million units earlier this month, on December 3rd, after the console launched in thirty-two markets around the world starting on November 15th, making the sales progress of Xbox One comparable to the PS4.
Corporate vice president of strategy and marketing at Xbox, Yusuf Mehdi, wrote in a statement:
“We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the positive response from our fans. We are thrilled to see sales of Xbox One on a record-setting pace, with over 2 million Xbox One consoles in homes around the world.
“Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets and Xbox One is sold out at most retailers. We’re also particularly excited to see consumers engaging in a wide range of games and entertainment experiences on the platform, with more than 1 million paid transactions on Xbox Live to date.”
Here are the rest of the stats released by Nelson:
- 2 Million Consoles sold through in 13-markets in the first 18-days
- Over 83 million hours in games, TV, and apps on Xbox One since the system launched
- 39 million Xbox One achievements unlocked
- 595 million total Gamerscore achieved on Xbox One
- At peak demand, customers were ordering the Xbox One console at over 1000 units per minute on Amazon.com
Have you contributed to the two million unit sales mark of the Xbox One, and will you be picking one up this holiday?
