VGX 2013 promises to be a magnificent celebration of gaming this weekendWritten by: / / 2 Comments
In previous years its been known as ‘Spike TV’s Video Game Awards,’ but this year the organisers have switched things up by not only changing the name, but the format and delivery method as well.
VGX 2013 kicks off tomorrow, December 7th from 6:00 PM ET / 3:00 PM PT, and is billed as a digital “all-day live multi-platform gaming event” that will be streamed at VGXLive.com and via partners on console, mobile and the web.
As we’ve come to expect from previous events, we’ll be seeing at least a handful of brand new games revealed for the first time, but organisers are also teasing new looks at games like Titanfall, Quantum Break, Dying Light, The Division and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, while developers including Double Fine’s Tim Schafer are said to be making special announcements during the show alongside a showing of Broken Age.
We’ll also see new and extended looks at games like Thief and South Park: The Stick of Truth, and Square Enix has something else to show at the event other than Thief. Could it be the new Tomb Raider, or extended looks at Final Fantasy XV?
There’s also excitement surrounding the appearance of Nintendo of America present Reggie Fils-Aime who will be giving the world “a new look at an upcoming Wii U game,” which makes it sound like it’s a title we already know about but we’ve got thumbs held firmly hoping it’s a brand new unannounced game.
If these new games and details aren’t enough, there will also be a special one-night only performance of the music of Gran Theft Auto V “featuring a host of artists from the game’s soundtrack and score.” If you’re familiar with the game’s soundtrack, you’ll know how jam-packed this attraction just might be!
Will you be tuning in to watch VGX 2013 tomorrow? What new games in existing franchises do you hope to be announced, and which developers do you want to see reveal what they’re working on?
