GTA V scoops Platinum Prize at Japan’s PlayStation Awards, full list of winners inside

Earlier today Sony Japan held its annual PlayStation Awards ceremony to celebrate the best-selling and most popular games released between November 1st, 2012 and October 31st, 2013 in the region.

Interestingly, Grand Theft Auto V was the only game to be awarded the Platinum Prize in recognition of one million copies shipped during the designated period. Meanwhile, the following games were awarded the Gold Prize for shipping between 500 000 and 1 million copies:

• Tales of Xillia 2 (PS3)

• World Soccer Winning Eleven 2013 (PS3; PS2; PSP)

• Yakuza 5 (PS3)

• Call of Duty: Black Ops II (PS3)

• Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PS3)

• One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 (PS3; PS Vita)

• JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle (PS3)

• Dragon’s Crown (PS3; PS Vita)

Other awards handed out during the ceremony included the User’s Choice Award which represents the top ten games released during the designated period as voted for by the public. These were:

• Persona 4: Golden (PS Vita; Asian version)

• Dragon’s Crown (PS3; PS Vita)

• Toukiden: Age of Demons (PS Vita; PSP)

• The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash (PS3; PS Vita)

• Killzone: Mercenary (PS Vita)

• The Last of Us (PS3)

• Beyond: Two Souls (PS3)

• Soul Sacrifice (PS Vita)

• Tomb Raider (PS3)

Finally, Phantasy Star Online 2, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and Cytus Lambda all received the Special Prize which recognises influential, novel, topical or innovative games released during the past year.
