El33t’s Question of the Day: Has humour gone out of fashion in games?Written by: / / 14 Comments
2013 was marked by the release of a series of games that deal with serious subject matter and while that doesn’t mean there weren’t humorous moments in a lot of these games, as developers become more familiar with telling stories they have begun to turn to more mature subject matter, best witnessed in titles such as The Last of Us.
It also doesn’t mean that there aren’t out-and-out ‘funny’ games any more – The Stanley Parable is hilarious and other independently developed games have included terrific humour – but the ratio of ‘serious’ to ‘humorous’ has been skewed towards the former over the last few years.
Has humour gone out of fashion in games? What are the best examples of funny games in recent years that you’ve played?
