We’ve asked this Question of the Day before, but one of my personal pet hates was recently ironed out in two new games that I’ve played over the last week so I’d like to revisit the topic for a refresh.
The gaming ‘pet hate’ in question is the inability to easily compare weapons and equipment. The game will show you a bunch of statistics and moving bars as you flick between each item, but very rarely can you take two items and see the precise advantages and disadvantages of choosing one over the other. Even RPGs get this wrong.
More recently, though, Battlefield 4 and Assassin’s Creed IV have been able to side-step this pet peeve by showing me exactly what I’m getting when I choose one item over the other. A miracle! Now we just need to get better checkpoints and streamlined load times, and eradicate the chase and escort mission in games and I’ll be (a little bit) happier.
What are your pet hates and pet peeves in gaming? What do games still do that gets you frustrated and downright angry?
