Fortune Magazine has released a list of its top 10 most powerful women in gaming. As one might expect, the list includes a number of well-known and respected women who have been gaining power in the videogame industry.
Fortune notes that although the industry is still dominated by men, the number of women in power at videogame companies is still growing. M2 research, however, points out that women currently make up under 15% of the gaming industry, which is not in line with the growth that we should be seeing given the acceleration of female players globally.
The latest research shows that 46% of the 1.2 billion people playing videogames around the world are women, making up 570 million female users.
The list includes Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig and 343 Industries Halo executive producer Kiki Wolfkill. Also included are EA’s Senior Vice President Lucy Bradshaw and Ubisoft Toronto managing director Jade Raymond.
Executive Director of International Gem Developers Association Kate Edwards, managing director of Casual Games Association Jessica Tams, Kongregate Co-Founder and CEO Emily Greer, Kabam Co-Founder Holly Liu, CEO of IndieCADE Stephanie Barish and CFO of King Hope Cochran also feature on the list.
