Chairman and CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, wrote in the report:

“The title received stellar reviews, shattered entertainment industry records, and has already sold-in nearly 29 million units to date. The extraordinary success of Grand Theft Auto V illustrates the positive momentum in our business and consumers’ enduring appetite for the highest-quality interactive entertainment.”

Zelnick went on to mention that Take-Two has “an extensive development pipeline of groundbreaking new intellectual properties and exciting titles from our proven franchises,” with ten unique games planned for release on next generation consoles, including several in 2014.

Grand Theft Auto V has also already gone on to exceed lifetime shipments of Grand Theft Auto IV in just six weeks, while becoming the biggest digital release on PlayStation Network and the highest grossing day one and week one release on Xbox LIVE.

As an interesting aside, the financial note refers to GTA Online as “a free game available with every copy of Grand Theft Auto V,” as opposed to a core part of GTA V.

Important Note: ‘Units shipped’ and unit ‘sell-in’ refers to the number of units sold through to retailers, as opposed to sold to customers, but 29 million units is still indicative of the unit sales that GTA V could still reach in the next few months.
