This week’s Media Create hardware chart finds the unassailable 3DS XL and 3DS at the top of the table, with the PS Vita far behind in third spot. It’s interesting to note that sales of Sony’s handheld have improved drastically since the introduction of the PS Vita 2000 on October 10th, despite it being priced the same as the original model. Clearly consumers are enjoying the ‘newness’ factor of the product along with its many improvements including a lighter, thinner form factor and longer battery life.

The Wii U continues to struggle in sixth spot despite the promise of heavy hitters such as Super Mario 3D World being released in November. This is likely due to attractively priced hardware bundles being introduced over the next few weeks – causing consumers to hold onto their cash until more desirable deals are available.

Here’s this week’s hardware chart in full (previous sales data appears in brackets):

• 3DS XL – 94 988 (141 245)
• 3DS – 59 590 (72 325)
• PS Vita – 25 763 (60 166)
• PS3 – 11 643 (12 395)
• PSP – 3 651 (3 467)
• Wii U – 2 999 (3 276)
• Wii – 806 (703)
• Xbox 360 – 539 (575)
