The PlayStation 4′s DualShock 4 controller features a number of improvements over the PS3′s DualShock 3, including curved triggers and textured grips. Due to this fact many PlayStation fans are curious to know whether the new controller will be backwards compatible with the PS3, and YouTube user Udetto recently took us one step closer to having this question answered.
In the video below we see that certain PS3 games such as Urban Trial Freestyle can be played using the DualShock 4 by hooking it up to the console via USB. However, other games such as FIFA 14 do not support USB controllers so the DualShock 4 cannot be used in these cases. The DualShock 4 uses a more advanced form of Bluetooth (2.1) than the DualShock 3 (2.0) so this explains why the former controller cannot be used wirelessly with the PS3.
